Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that on 20 September Bereketli market, located in the residential district of Parakhat-7 in Ashgabat, was closed for customers.
Instead of customers cameramen with television cameras walked along the market stalls abundant in beautifully-laid vegetables, fruits, sweets and most importantly, large quantities of chicken eggs which have recently been in short supply.
Assistants of cameramen kept vigil at the entrance to disperse customers and said that the market is closed today.
It appears that the food abundance will be featured on the channels of Turkmen television in the run-up to the Day of Independence, which is celebrated in Turkmenistan on 27 September.
It should be emphasized that the country is still experiencing a shortage of eggs and flour, which is now seldom supplied to state-run stores. The deficit caused a price hike for these food products.
